KSA is a knowledge, skills, and abilities statement that social workers will be tested on when taking their licensing exam (ASWB, 2017). After reviewing the KSA's listed on the ASWB website, I was able to identify several KSA's were learned in this class with the first one being The KSA's human development, diversity, and behavior in the environment. From this section, we discussed human growth and developmental theories, abuse and neglect, diversity and social justice, competency, and poverty. We learned about the components of the biopsychosocial, cultural considerations in intervention planning, and the adverse childhood experience assessment which aligns with the second KSA - assessment and intervention planning.
The third KSA, interventions, taught us about the importance of role play, limit setting, and assessing community resources. For the fourth KSA, interventions with clients/client systems, we learned the importance of utilizing role play during early childhood. For the final KSA, professional relationships, values, and ethics, we discussed the influence of social worker's own values and beliefs on the social workers client relationship and the importance of practicing within our area of competence.
