Myers, Lewis, and Parker-Dominguez (2003) stated that "Unfortunately, most of the literature on coping in ethnic minorities has focused on ethnic-specific coping strategies, such as John Henryism and religiosity, whereas the mainstream coping literature has largely ignored ethnic minority populations and discussions of cultural differences. An integration of the two literatures is greatly needed" (p. 392).
For this discussion we are going to focus on using literature (research studies) to identify ways, ideas, research questions, concepts, anecdotal scenarios, etc., that could help the integration of these two bodies of literature referenced from the readings.
In that, from the readings, discuss how you could blend/combine the findings found in the literature focused on coping strategies of ethnic minorities, WITH mainstream literature that may not focus on cultural and ethnical difference in coping with stress? Be sure to use examples and references from the readings to support your discussion posts.
