Your report shall include the following data:
- Record the distance the material deflected, before breaking. You can repeat to get averages if needed.
- Provide photographs of the broken parts and make sure to provide comments. Use the equation 1 to calculate the measured Force, 'F', for each.
- Comment on how they deflect the forces needed to break.
- Discuss how the various loading end conditions affect the load at breaking and the type of loading. For example, where is the maximum stress predicted and has it broken in that position, if not why?
- Please address how these end-loading conditions influence the riveted skin panels on a commercial aircraft.
Buckling is a failure mode affecting safety and airworthiness of all aircraft. This condition is one reason why aircrafts have a limited life span.
