Assignment

You have been hired to set up a distribution warehouse for a distributor of party items. Products include decorations for all of the major holidays and special occasions (weddings, graduations, etc.). In addition the product line includes everyday items such as wrapping paper and novelty gifts. Products are received between 6:00 p.m. and midnight five days a week. Most orders are downloaded by 8:00 a.m.. Products are received in bulk on pallets. Your main customers are Hallmark and the national chain, The Party Store. In order to set the warehouse up properly you need to profile various warehouse activities. Below is a list of the 7 profiles discussed in the text. Analyze each profile and discuss how each one affects the way you set up the warehouse.
