This discussion should help you prepare for this unit's assignment. Here you will discuss how civic engagement intersects with public policy. You have already explored the many forms that civic engagement can take, from individual efforts (e.g., voting) to massive social movements pushing for change. Regardless of the form it takes, civic engagement can have a large impact on policies and the issues they address.

In this discussion, you will explore how different organizations impact policy. Some do so through advocacy and education, some lobby for change, some work to help enforce the policy tools (e.g., regulations), and some work to fill the gaps in policy, but all work to improve policy (social) issues. Here you will discuss policy issues that interest you and explore how different organizations work with (or against) policy to improve those issues.
