Hi - I am currently doing my homework on 'The Communist Manifesto' and need help with the following question, as I am not particularly good at literature:

"Consider the paragraph that begins "The history of all societies is the history of class-struggles." Given my [as in my teacher's] earlier-mentioned definition of 'class-struggle' (= people who share an interest, according to him), explain two of the mentioned class struggles."

Here is the paragraph:

The history of all societies is the history of class-struggles. [This point is slightly more subtle than the authors claim: they mean only those societies within written history, not all possible societies.] Freeman and slave, patrician and plebeian, lord and serf, guild-master and worker, in a word, oppressor and oppressed, stood in constant opposition to one another, carried on an uninterrupted, now hidden fight that each time ended, either in a revolution or in the common ruin of the contending classes.
