Characters (are the characters distinct and well-rendered? Are their motivations clear?)
Tension/Conflict (is there sufficient tension/conflict here? What is the central conflict? How could this conflict be embellished or drawn out?)
Plot (Does the story have a satisfying dramatic structure? Would you reshape or reorganize the story in any way?)
Narrative and voice (does the writer's voice come through in this personal narrative? Are there moments when we could benefit from changes to the narrative style? Does the narrator clue us into their interiority throughout?)
Finally, discuss the larger theme(s) and goal(s) you think this personal narrative is trying to achieve. How successful is this narrative at speaking to a larger issue/emotion/theme, etc? Does it have a theme or purpose that fits the assignment? How could this aspect be improved?
