Question Description - Strategy has three levels corporate, business level and functional. Often the tactics are mistaken for functional strategy. Here is an example of a corporate strategy of "related diversification," the business level strategy is probably differentiation and the marketing strategy is product development, the R & D strategy is either radical or incremental - taking this article, what are the operations strategy? What are the associated tactics?
The key here is to differentiate between corporate strategy and tactics used to implement the corporate strategy. The strategic plan is all about strategy. Whereas annual functional plans start with a strategy and then move into tactics. In your plan you should focus on the corporate, business level and functional strategies. Leave the tactics for the annual functional plans (such as marketing or operations plans). Corporate strategies are found in exhibit 8.12 with one missing the stability strategy, which is often associated with a Porter cost-based business level strategy or Miles and Snow Defender strategy.
