Attend FIVE different in-person 12 Step Meetings - such as Alcoholics Anonymous, Narcotics Anonymous, Cocaine Anonymous, Overeaters Anonymous, AL-ANON etc. (I went to alcoholics anon, and narcotics anon)
Complete a paper following the directions below and submit to your Clinical Instructor on Canvas by the assigned due date.
Ensure that you only attend meetings that are OPEN to the public or new members. Remember that anonymity is particularly important to the participants.
Write a reaction paper on this experience in APA (7th ed. format), citing at least five resources. Use both your textbook and at least two scholarly articles as references in your paper. Submit as a word document or pdf into Canvas and include the following considerations: (i will add some notes but please build on it)
1. How did you feel about this assignment prior to attending the meetings? - i was on edge and kind of nervous to be in that environment
2. Maintaining anonymity of participants, describe the 12 Step meetings attended. - a community built of all types of people and different races, ethnicities...
3. Identify five of Yalom's Curative Factors observed during the meetings. Apply and discuss five examples of Yalom's Curative Factors and how it pertains to the 12 step group process. (refer to your textbook page 612, Table 34.1) - in files
4. Your own intellectual and emotional responses to being there. - made me look at people who suffer with addiction alot differently
5. Compare and contrast the similarities and differences between the five meetings in relation to the 12 Steps.
6. Identify 3 personal and family behaviors that enable the addicted person. Discuss each behavior affects the addiction process.
7. Reflect on the current challenges facing mental health patients during this time of isolation, crisis and ill health.
8. Give at least 5 local community resources available to individuals suffering from addiction. Get the instant assignment help.
