The U.S. Supreme Court ruled in 2015 that the Constitution guarantees a right to same-sex marriages, overturning bans in specific conditions. How do these developments illustrate that social change is possible even as discrimination against transgender people remains intact in school restrooms and the military in 2018? Do these high-level policy decisions eliminate discrimination in places of employment, schools, and electoral offices, suggesting the need for micro-policy advocacy and mezzo-policy advocacy?
