Case: You are a police officer and you respond to a family fight in your city. Upon arrival, a neighbor told you he saw Mr. Mohammed viciously beat his wife and then drag her into the house by her hair. When you and your partner enter the house, you see the woman with serious lacerations on her face that will require stitches. She tells you that she will not press charges because, under their law, her husband did nothing wrong. The man tells you that his wife disobeyed him and was attempting to meet a friend at a social setting where unmarried men would be present. Although he would not admit to assaulting her, he said that the Koran permits the action he took. Both are citizens of Saudi Arabia and legal residents of the United States with valid work permits.
