Case Study: Imagine a woman named Tina. Tina grew up in a family that thought she was worthless. Her parents told her that no one would ever love her. When shewas 16, a man in his 20s fell in love with her and promised to take her away from all of this. Would she marry him? Tina wasn't that crazy about him, buthe was certainly better than her family, so she said yes and quit school. They packed up and moved to the middle of nowhere. He assured her their lifetogether would be perfect. They would have lots of kids. Tina would be the stay-at-home mom, and he would bring home the paycheck and take care ofthe finances. By the time she was 25, they had five children. Then, one day, her husband declares that he has had enough and he is leaving. He takes thecar and all of their money and disappears. She has no transportation, no child care, no money, no education, no job skills, and no friends.
