Learning outcome 2: Compare different privacy challenges and assess their impact in real-world applications
Learning outcome 3: Practical, Professional or Subject Specific Skills
Learning outcome 4:Take a critical approach to research, development and maintenance of advanced networking systems;
Learning outcome 5: Analyse privacy challenges in diverse applications and propose countermeasures
Module Aims
To provide a detailed understanding of diverse threats to, and attacks on, networked systems;
To study emerging networked systems and their security challenges, e.g., IoT, Cloud, blockchain, etc;
To define the concept of privacy, and to identify its challenges and its legal and social aspects;

Assessment - Systematic Literature Review of Security and Privacy Challenges in Emerging Networks
Assessment task details and instructions
This assignment is half part of the formal assessment and is therefore compulsory. Read this document carefully and make sure you are clear about what you have to do, and what you have to hand in, before you attempt the assignment.
You are required to submit an essay and develop a systematic literature review of security and/or privacy challenges in emerging computer networks, such as "Internet of Things", "Cloud Computing", "Blockchain", "Software-Defined Networks", "smart transportation", "smart health", etc. To summarise what this means:
a "systematic literature review" is a detailed look at the range of current research issues/approaches/directions, and the key researchers and texts, in a particular area;
You will be given some base papers to show you examples of the approaches taken in these types of writing. You are required to follow the given base paper method and produce comparable results and document your results in a similar format, but you will need to adapt the methodology used in the paper to your selected field of research.
It is not allowed for different students to choose same field for the same type of essay. However, if multiple students want to work in the same overall area, then it may be possible to divide the area into distinct aspects, and the course instructor will give you guidance regarding this.
You are required to inform the course instructor about the title of your paper by the start of Week 4 of the module (21st Feb, 2022) through email.
You can submit your initial draft in the "draft submission area" on Blackboard, latest by week 8 (21/03/2022) to get formative feedback.
You will need to prepare a presentation to share your findings with the class. This is a formative assessment in which you will receive feedback from your classmates and the lecturer. The presentation date will be in week 9.
You should submit your final essay manuscript including all sections by the submission deadline shown on the covering page of this brief, before 4:00 pm
Major pitfalls that significantly drop your mark (please avoid): following are main issues in students' submissions that can be addressed easily:
Copying text from other articles and/or websites without rewording
Sections of essay are not following a proper story ?ow and are written as islands of paragraphs each one explaining a separated concept. Please make sure you have proper ?ow in each section of your paper and linking sentences are included to link paragraphs appropriately.
Writing and grammar issues
Missing one or more sections in the essay
Figures are not sharp, not focused to the main point
Figures or tables are not referenced in-text
Inclusion of irrelevant or not important figures, tables or unnecessary explanation of irrelevant concepts. You need to make sure that all your contents are relevant and really needed.
