You are the head of the informatics department at a 220-bed community hospital that already has computerized documentation for nursing and other ancillary staff. The hospital is considering implementing computerized physician order entry (CPOE) for their providers. One of their requirements will be that providers want the ability to place orders from within the facility, their home office, and their mobile devices. As the head of the informatics department you will need to make a recommendation to the chief financial officer (CFO) advising whether to upgrade the existing system or implement a new system.

Part 1: PowerPoint Presentation

Create an 8 to 10 slide PowerPoint presentation, including speaker notes and references, that addresses the following:

1. Evaluate the criteria that would be included in a request for information (RFI).
2. Discuss considerations for both upgrading the existing system and implementing a new system.
3. Recommend whether the facility should upgrade or implement a new system. Provide a rationale to support your position.
4. Explain how this scenario relates to the systems life cycle model.

Part 2: CFO Presentation
