Submission Details - Submit via course website as one Word file or one PDF file that has been generated from Word. Any other form will not be accepted. Scanned text will also not be accepted. Extensions to assignments will not be given except on serious medical grounds to students who can produce medical certificates indicating prolonged illness or else on compassionate grounds of a serious nature. In all cases, documentary evidence (e.g. medical certificate) must be provided with the online application of the extension before the deadline.

Penalties - Late assignments that do not have approved extensions will incur a penalty of 20% of the marks for each working day (or part day) that the assignment is late. Note that weekend and public holidays are exempted (i.e., not counted). References - This course is part of a Master degree program which has a research component included. It is therefore important that you research related literature to topics in the assignment and reference as many related work as you can. Referencing is important for both assignments to: (a) expand your knowledge of the assignment topic and (b) provide evidence to the claims you make and (c) demonstrate you know what you are talking about.

The general rule is if you are using information or data that is not of your own creation then you need to acknowledge it. Not only is this for academic integrity but to add weight to your recommendations – to show they are just not opinions. Avoid citing lecture material such as slides because it is not an official publication that everyone can access. The textbook can be cited with specific references to pages.

That depends on how many points you are making. Generally, more is better because you have used more sources to understand the topic and reinforce your points. A minimum of 5 references is required. Just adding as many references as possible without using them in the assignment won't earn maximum marks. Quoting from external references should not be used more than two times in the whole assignment and should not include more than two sentences.

Reference quality - The type (quality) of references makes a difference and this is considered in the marks as well. Feel free to use the readers and links from the lectures and Course Outline but do not cite lecture material because it is not a publication. Avoid marketing/vendor sites and general websites - the quality is not assured (ie. Anyone can get a website up regardless of their expertise and marketing material from software companies is usually biased). The exception would be news sites when you want to report an event. Finding references by Google Scholar is a good starting point. Using the normal Google search engine will probably not lead to good quality reports. Try the library catalogue as well and the Gartner portal (accessible through the UniSA library database list).

ERP systems exist for a while so you will find many related publications that are older than 5 years. However, try to use as recent publications as possible, i.e., within the last years so you can read about recent trends and perspectives on certain topics in the ERP domain. Consider if you were the CEO of the chosen organization/company receiving this report – in a fast changing business environment would you trust a report that is using data from 6 years ago? However, if you cannot find more recent work you can also cite older publications. It is better to include older references than no references at all. Referencing style - Use Harvard style of referencing in-text citations. The references for data used can be included in the references section. References must be in English. Referenced material must be available when the assignment is being marked.
