Topic - Transformational Leadership
INSTRUCTIONS - You will need to identify a topic within your field of study. This interest might stem from an initial problem that you have identified or simply something that you would like to learn more about. This topic will form the focus of your research for the duration of this course.
The assessment has three parts. The first is an ongoing task to build your familiarity of various approaches to research and research methods and to help you build your familiarity of the literature on a specific field. The second and third part will enable you to identify and explore a specific research topic identified from your initial review of the literature.
PART ONE: CRITIQUE (approximately 2500 words)
1: Explain the relevance of a range of research paradigms and designs to their specific field of study.
2: Critically evaluate published research in their field of study in terms of the research methods used.
Part one comprises the progressive identification of literature relevant to your topic using the approaches to research discussed during your workshops. You will need to identify overall five different articles. The assessment comprises the following steps:
a) Find one systematic literature review journal article relevant to your topic and discuss the benefits of conducting a systematic literature review as well as the methods/data used in this specific article (e.g. exclusion/inclusion criteria, number of articles reviewed) and the key finding and limitations of this specific research (e.g. from the perspective of your own topic).
b) Find, summarise and critique two credible peer-reviewed journal articles that use qualitative methods. Please note that you cannot use systematic literature review articles in this section. Include discussion on the following topics: research paradigm, question/s, sampling, data collection, data analysis, key findings, and critical evaluation of the limitations (e.g. from the perspective of your own topic).
c) Find, summarise and critique two credible peer-reviewed journal articles that use quantitative methods. Include discussion on the following topics: research paradigm, question/s (and hypotheses is applicable), sampling, data collection, data analysis, key findings, and critical evaluation of the limitations (e.g. from the perspective of your own topic).
