Technology has impacted organizational communication both positively and negatively. Technology is basically used every day for everything. I know for one people could use social media apps now to tell each other the times of meetings for each other to attend which can be positive.
The negative side of this is that, that same organization can see if you are online and read their message which for some I might kind of bridge on their personal space. Now I will provide an example to support my position.
The impact technology has had in verbal and non-verbal communication when interpreting messages depends on the situation or context it is being used. It's also important to just pay attention to detail in signals because it can reveal things.
"Nonverbal communication may transmit a message or meaning that contradicts what is being said verbally. Someone who disagrees with you may verbally signal concurrence but will send other signals, such as looking away or looking down, that contradict the message. The combination of verbal and nonverbal cues can send a strong message. A person expressing adamant support for an idea may pound a fist or shake one in the air. Nonverbal cues communicate even when you are trying to avoid sending a message.
When you are sad or frustrated, body language may send that message even when the words are "I'm okay" or "I'm fine" (Baack, 2012, p.3.5) Technology can and will continue to evolve where people will continue to use it in communication purposes every day.
