Assignment
Social responsibility is important to integrate into the fabric of the company from the vision, mission and value, to the company goals and strategic plan.
If a company had social responsibility reflected in its values, but didn't have anything related in its strategic plan, then the values would never be translated into action - they would simply be words on a page. Simply said, it's like stating your intention to do something and then not following through.
A strategic plan is what sets priorities and creates direction for a firm, so if social responsibility is something the firm values, then the plan needs to reflect that accordingly.
Stever Robbins puts it this way "Your vision lays out a destination; your destination guides your strategy; and strategy chooses action. It's action that leads to success" (Robbins, n.d., para 2).
For my strategic plan specifically, it brings into action the values of:
Stewardship: We are loving stewards of the animals entrusted to our care
Sustainability: We demonstrate our care for the environment by practicing responsible farming and striving for sustainability
My plan includes expansion of the enclosure where my birds are housed to keep a minimum of eight square feet of space per bird as the number of birds increases to scale production.
It also includes plans to replace packaging materials with sustainable alternatives and convert the lighting in the enclosure from electric to solar.
