Question: Illegal immigrants. A May 2007 New York Times Poll on illegal immigrants interviewed 1125 randomly selected American adults. Of those in the sample, 776 said they believe illegal immigrants should "be prosecuted and deported for being in the U.S. illegally." Although the samples in national polls are not SRSs, they are similar enough that our method gives approximately correct confidence intervals.

(a) Explain in words what the parameter p is in this setting.

(b) Use the poll results to give a 95% confidence interval for p.

(c) Write a short explanation of your findings in (b) for someone who knows no statistics.
