One of the biggest conflicts cohabiting couples encounter early on in their relationships is the division of household labor. This is especially true after the arrival of a child in their relationship. In the past the division of household labor was resolved through the establishment of th traditional breadwinner/homemaker family, with men working for a wage and women maintaining the household. Today the dual earner household is the norm, but women are still expected to shoulder the majority of household and childcare responsibilities in a phenomenon called the second shift. Post a discussion board response about the gendered division of labor in your house. Include the following in your essay:

. Description of who does what tasks in your household

. The extent to which your household represents the second shift phenomenon

. Knowing that the second shift is common in American society (regardless of whether or not your household reflects it), describe how gender socialization helps to explain the common occurrence of the second shift.
