Although we are the wealthiest country in the global community, we represent a small percentage of the overall world population, and there are very diverse views and customs throughout the world from which we can learn and grow. For this assignment you will be asked to choose a culture and research the various ways in which gender is perceived and manifested within that culture. Consider the various lenses we have studied throughout the class, and apply a few of these lenses within your analysis.

For example, you may want to explore the Mahu of the Hawaiian culture, the Wodaabe in Niger, or the Muxe in Mexico and discuss how the social and psychological viewpoints that relate to this Gender Classification. Provide a historical overview of the cultural concept, and discuss the ways in which it applies to current culture. This may include an exploration of current norms, laws, policies, or practices within that culture.
