In a number of southern states such as South Carolina, GA and Mississippi, there has been a lot of controversy surrounding flying the Confederate battle flag or having the battle flag integrated into a state flag. GA recently removed the stars and bars from its flag that had been prominently displayed since 1956. A new flag was adopted in 2003, a development that made some happy and others angry. For this discussion board forum, respond to the following:
