Please help me with a response to this student's discussion about diet trends..

The south beach diet was created in 2003, from it being here for over 20 years I would assume that this diet is here to stay for now. Since it was created, it has had multiple success stories and people would probably recommend this diet to friends or family. The south beach diet is sometimes called "a modified low-carbohydrate diet (Website)." From what I gather, the south beach diet is supposed to help you eat food groups that are higher in protein and lower in carbs.

From research on the Mayo Clinic website, the south beach diet is safe if you don't restrict your carbohydrate intake too much. If you do you could experience problems with ketosis which is when your body doesn't have enough carbs to burn for you to have energy. From what I read, I would try this diet myself if I would keep up with the day-to-day schedule and if I could remember to eat.

I do not personally have experience with the south beach diet, but I have been trying to introduce more protein into my routine because I do not normally eat enough food that has protein or carbohydrates. I mostly snack or just skip my meals. If given the chance and the time I would try this diet or I would try the Keto version of the south beach diet. The diet I follow is the TikTok trend with cottage cheese and mustard and I lost 10 pounds so far, but I personally feel like I need to try something different for my schedule.
