Consider a patient with decreased range of motion following TKA surgery. Therapists often push on the distal tibia while the patient is sitting on the edge of the plinth to gain passive knee flexion.

In your initial post, complete these requirements:

Take a side and argue whether or not passive knee flexion will improve if a PTA uses the distal tibia as a lever and applies a posterior force at the ankle.
Describe the ideal patient and PTA hand position for the optimal environment to increase passive knee flexion and extension. Which forces should be applied and where?
Now consider a patient who is post-ACL reconstruction. Would you employ the same techniques as in #2 above?
