One of the major challenges organizations encounter with regard to organizational culture is the merger and acquisition process. When two (or more) organizations merge through any means, they have to consider which culture they will adopt and how to do so. Take for example, recent discussion regarding a merger between T-Mobile and Sprint. The following is how T-Mobile describes their culture on their website:

"T-Mobile is a place for collaboration, creativity and fast-paced change. As the Un-carrier, and America's most loved wireless company, their 50,000 plus customer-obsessed team members are united in their mission to build the future of technology and change wireless for good."

In contrast, while no information is available on Sprint's website about their culture, the internet is a buzz with plenty of information. For the sake of the exercise, let's pretend it is all true. Employees have noted that the company is extremely rule oriented, in constant change, and is innovation adverse. (Again, I'm taking some creative license here...I am not actually that familiar with Sprint's culture)

If these two companies merge, how do you recommend the leadership manage the integration of these two cultures to use it as a competitive advantage?
