Kevin's mother was at work when she received a call from the day care where Kevin, her 1-year old son, was being watched. The child care provider told Kevin's mother that he had been fussy that morning, pulling at his left ear, napped only a short while, refused his bottle, and was running a temperature of 101.1°F. Kevin's mother picked him up from the day care and called your office and scheduled an appointment for today. Kevin's mother denies he has had a fever but admits she did not take his temperature. His immunizations are up to date and he is appropriate for his developmental age. He does not take any medications. PMH: Normal vaginal delivery at 40 weeks' gestation. No ER or hospitalizations and passed her developmental screening at her last well-child visit
Family History: Lives at home with both parents. His mother is a teacher and his father is a commercial fisherman. The family has cat and his father smokes.
