Discrimination against unemployment applicants

Oregon enacted a law on March 27, 2012, that prohibits overt unemployment discrimination against unemployed applicants. The law prohibits employers from using language indicating that unemployed individuals should not apply for the job or that they will not be considered for employment. Connecticut, California, Florida, Illinois, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, New York, Ohio, and Pennsylvania are considering similar legislation as well.
