Pros: (1) Standardized processing across the state ( ensures fair treatment for everyone). (2) Helps rehabilitate offenders as they maintain in society without sending them to prison (cost efficient). (3) The justice system is able to identify what is needed to implement change by observing trends and assess program/probation effectiveness.

Cons: (1) Uniformity; everyone who is probation is treated the same no matter the circumstance. (2) Limited community engagement ( resources may not be fully used). (3) When a person is put on probation they are assigned a probation officer; being that there is uniformity rather than individuality when it comes to probation, there is the risk of disconnect between the needs of a community and the services proved.
