Direction of the average kicking force

A soccer ball of mass 0.4 kg is moving horizontally with a speed of 20 m/s, when it its kicked by a player. The kicking force is so large that the ball flies up at an angle of 30 degrees above the ground, with double the initial speed. The player however claims he aimed his foot at a different, much larger angle above the ground. First briefly explain how this is possible; a picture of the initial and final momentum vectors, as well as of the impulse vector may be very revealing in showing under which conditions this is possible! Then calculate the magnitude as well as the direction of the average kicking force, if you are given that the foot was in contact with the ball for one hundredth of a second.

If you could draw a picture somehow for the first part I would appreciate it.
