Dimitri is a licensed dermatologist in the State of Texas. Phoebe was one of Dimitri's patients, and Dimitri recently removed a mole from Phoebe's back in his medical office. In the week after the surgery, Phoebe developed a severe infection that resulted in pain and scarring and caused Phoebe, who works on a freelance basis, to lose a big job. This type of infection is not one of the possible complications that Dimitri explained to Phoebe prior to the procedure. Phoebe has spoken to other former patients of Dimitri, and she suspects that the infection is the result of Dimitri's failure to maintain a sterile environment for procedures in his office and to comply with sanitation requirements for surgical tools. Phoebe decided to file a complaint against Dimitri with the Texas Medical Board.
