Assessment - Digital Solution Project
Applications and Data Solutions
Topic 1: Data-driven problems and solution requirements
Topic 2: Data and programming techniques
Topic 3: Prototype data solutions
EXPLORE PHASE: (1-2 A3 )
(Mind Map, Success (functional & non-functional), Constraints)
• Analyse the data-driven problem and information related to the context
• Determine UX, UI and programmed requirements
• Determine prescribed and self-determined criteria that will be used to measure success (Functional and Non-Functional)
• Determine constraints that will need to be adhered to (Functional and Non-Functional)
DEVELOP PHASE:
• Create and annotate interface designs for the subsystems and the whole system.
• Identify and justify database design to accommodate the nominated subsystems
• explain
- data flow relationships within and between systems
- accessibility and usability principles in your solutions
GENERATE PHASE:
prototype solution (Algorithms + 2-3 A3 Annotated Code Listings )
• Synthesise sample data and algorithms (using pseudocode) to plan functionality for each sub-system in IPO Charts (or equivalent)
• Generate pseudo-coded components that separately demonstrate the nominated sub-systems
• Explain programming features and ideas using annotated code segments
• Generate Code samples in - JS, PHP, SQL, Script (HTML, CSS)
EVALUATE PHASE:
Security, effectiveness and efficiency of your prototype (1/2 -1 A3)
• Evaluate your prototype solution against prescribed and self-determined, functional and non-functional criteria
You are to document your use of the problem-solving process in responding to the problem. You will explore, develop, generate and evaluate a prototype data-driven interactive web application to assist online ordering of coffee and other products from the school Coffee Shop. The explore phase will provide information about the requirements of the proposed application. You will be given basic functional data components to experiment with, learn from and modify. This will inform your Develop & Generate phases. In the Generate & Evaluate phase only prototype data and pseudo code components are required to be evaluated.
Retrieving and comprehending
Assessment objectives
1. recognise and describe key elements of an application, components of data exchange systems, and data security processes
2. symbolise and explain data interface, structures and specifications; data flow relationships within and between systems; and digital methods of exchanging data
3. analyse a data exchange problem and information related to data security
4. determine data exchange system requirements, a security strategy for data, and prescribed and self-determined criteria
5. synthesise information and ideas to determine selected data, algorithms and coded components of data exchange solutions
6. generate components of the data exchange solution
7. evaluate impacts, coded components and a data exchange solution against prescribed anc self-determined criteria to make refinements and justified recommendations
8. make decisions about and use mode-appropriate features, written language and conventions for a technical audience
