Assignment: Digital Footprint or the Internet of Me
We discovered the ubiquitous nature of the internet in Learning Module 1 as we discussed privacy and security. Continuing into this Learning Module, we see that everything is connected, which includes information about you. Are you curious about what Google knows about you? Curious about how we regularly volunteer information about ourselves when we sign up for "free" services? How do those ads that target your favorite pastimes just pop-up to entice you? How does Netflix or Barnes and Noble know you like mysteries? This information is becoming a huge component of a competitive advantage for organizations.
In this assignment you will "fish" for traces of yourself on the internet and consider the privacy of your own information. Your exploration will help you consider how you handle your own privacy, and to discover how this information is gathered and used by business, i.e., the Internet of Me. And, begin to consider how your business will address privacy of customers as well as utilize their personal data.
What's Is Involved?
1. Investigate the concept of a digital footprint and identify the personal risks as well as business applications.
2. Identify the scope of your own personal data.
3. Identify the rights that you have regarding your personal data and actions you should take to protect your personal information.

2. Watch How Can I Manage My Digital Footprints?
3. Read /Review My Digital Footprint - A Guide to Digital Footprint Discovery and Management [pdf provided in Learning Module] (CPNI, 2016).
4. Prepare a commentary on these issues in a Word document which does NOT answer the questions/objectives but provides your perspective in paragraphs (IN YOUR OWN WORDS) that is guided by these issues. The submission will provide a TURNITIN review so be assure that you provide citations and references for any concepts that obtained through outside resources, including your text, the pdf of My Digital Footprint and the videos.
