Question

The scenario describes a 22-year-old male who presents with difficulty swallowing, nausea, weakness, and altered vital signs (low blood pressure, Increased respiratory rate and tachycardia as evidenced by the increased heart rate) following an allergy immunotherapy injection. These symptoms suggest that the patient is experiencing are consistent with anaphylaxis, which is severe and potentially life-threatening allergic reaction. The difficulty swallowing (dysphagia) and nausea occur due to the release of histamine and other mediators that cause smooth muscle contraction and increased vascular permeability (McCance, K. L. and Huether, S. E. (2019), leading to swelling and gastrointestinal symptoms. Weakness and the tripod position indicate respiratory distress and a compensatory posture to ease breathing.
