Assignment - Persuasive Memo
For this assignment, imagine you're an employee at M State. You can take on the role of any number of employees at M State: instructor, president, dean, human resources director, academic counselor, director of security, head custodian, etc.
You have many to choose from.
From this perspective, I want you to write a memo about a problem (or problems) at M State that needs to be fixed. The topic you select will have an effect on who you decide is your audience and what methods of development that you need to use to present the problem clearly and, possibly, to argue for a particular solution (or solutions).
When planning this document, you will want to do two things:
1.) Take a look at the organizational chart and staff directory for M State that I have posted in the content section and familiarize yourself with your options in terms of your perspective and the audience.
2.) If you are having difficulties thinking of a problem at M State, look back at any campus-wide emails that have been distributed in the past few weeks or months to get a sense of the kind of issues that may come up.
Your memo should be 1-2 pages (approximately 300-400 words). There will not be an opportunity to revise assignment, so make sure you do an effective job drafting the assignment on your own.
