1. Differentiate between Mindful Eating and Mindless Eating
2. Examine awareness of sensations in the body through the body scan practice.
Purpose:
We will begin an exploration of hunger, and to do so, we need to understand the difference between Mindful Eating and Mindless Eating. Meals are consumed quickly as we move on to the next activity.
Criteria:
Part 1:
Differentiate between Mindful Eating and Mindless Eating and provide 2 examples of each. Describe the benefits and difficulties of maintaining mindful eating practices. Consider how a lack of body awareness may contribute to mindless eating.
Part 2:
Daily mindfulness practice - 5-minute mindfulness practice - body scan - with audio guidance (see audio track #10, A Basic Body Scan), or mindful strategy of choice. Reconnect with awareness of sensation in the body through body scan practice. Consider how a lack of body awareness may contribute to mindless eating
Practice mindfulness 5-6 days a week. Submit a summary of your experience to the discussion post by Thursday.
