Question: Different versions of the same myth. Why are there different versions? Is one version better than the other? Has it anything to do with translation or perhaps the oral tradition?

THE COMPARISON FORMAT

Essay must have a clear introduction paragraph. This paragraph should outline exactly what it is comparing and the reason you are comparing them. Give names and titles of both works and any background introductory information. Outline the points that you are going to use to compare each work. The body of your essay should be written in proper comparison paragraphs. There are 2 ways to write a comparison paragraph:

1) Topic sentence introduces both sides of the comparison Support sentences follow a Point by Point format. EX: Sentence about A. Sentence about B. Sentence about A. Sentence about B. etc... Conclude both sides of the comparison.

2) Topic sentences introduce both sides of the comparison. Support sentences follow a Block format. EX. All information about A. All information about B. Conclude both sides of the comparison.

Be sure to be consistent with the body paragraphs in your essay. The whole essay should be written in the Block or the Point by Point format. Do not mix the two. Integrate your research into each body paragraph. Use the opinions of your critics as a spring board into your own ideas. Expand and explain each part of your comparison. Be sure that all the information in your head gets down onto the page. Don't be afraid to express your own opinion. Have a strong conclusion paragraph. Restate the names of authors and works used. Restate your reason for comparing these works. Summarize the points you compared the works on. Do not introduce any new information into your conclusion. Write a final sentence that concludes the whole essay.
