Question: Stages/Phases of family- Professional partnerships is a partnership formed between the parents and the professionals. This is where important information is exchanged about the patient(s) and the professional. In this area we find a special kind of understanding between the families and the professionals. We understand that the families spend the majority of the time with patient and we also understand that the professional has the professional development to assist and share information. When that bond is formed, collaborations and partnership can begin. Decision-making comes into place and allows for everyone to collaborate for the good of the patient.

Prioritizing my patients/students and their families needs is a big key for me. Making sure they feel heard, understood, appreciated and forming that alliance will be useful for everyone involved.

For the case study, I feel that the practitioner did well in following through the different stages in the family-professional partnership. The practitioner followed the steps in order to assure that there was an understanding between the family and them.

Work on attentive skills personally. If I am able to fully listen to the family, I can give better solutions to their problems. Also, do as much research as possible to ensure that I am offering all the help and resources available.
