A lot of the imagery in these clips are very well put together, but can at the same time be deeply saddening because of the subject matter. Six Jungle Boys was a short film about how to protect yourself while travelling in the jungle. This was the animations main purpose, but there are also many stereotypes. For example, the Asian soldier being represented as some type of swamp monster, and the Oriental chime that plays when he appears on screen. This film's main purpose is to warn soldiers, but it is not without its disrespectful stereotypes. Another film that I watched was Momotaro's Divine Sea Warriors. This was was a bit more jarring and saddening, as the first clip shows an animal child, running through a field chasing a hat. Then they look up and see dandelions falling from the sky. They seem to be happy and carefree. Later on we find out the hat belongs to a soldier, and the dandelions from before are actually soldiers parachuting onto the battlefield. This on was a bit more jarring and dreamlike. Jarring because the once childlike music is gone, and there are alarms, clanking metal sounds, troops running and arming themselves, but dream like because there is so much happening at once. The animal characters change between human and animal and there is just so much urgency in this animation.

Both of these films were made in 1945, but both have a very different perspective on things, and its heartbreaking.
