Question

There are 8 different organizational structures they are Simple Structure, Functional structure, Divisional Structure, International structure, Holding Company Structure, Worldwide Holding Structure, Worldwide Functional Structured. Boeing would be a Functional Structure as it produces product and has a high level of centralization. Employees work together to solve issues that may arise. There is also a lot of research and development being done as they produce the different products. Different work areas work together to come up with ideas to solve problems. If problems are not resolved at the bottom levels then they will be pushed up to upper management. During my research it shows that the company would fall under matrix but personally I feel like it would be under functional as I listed above the reasons why. Could there be a possibility of Boeing using both Matrix and Functional? How often would you say companies start as on Organizational structure and go a total other route later? This was a fun exercise because it really made me think about which one it would fall under and why.
