Sometimes statements in ordinary English have a very different logical structure than what they appear to have on the surface. In this exercise, you'll think about two examples of this. a) There is a famous sign that was put up in many businesses in the United States during the 50s and 60s, most likely to keep hippies out. It says: "No shirt, no shoes, no service." Use the sentence letters P: You are wearing a shirt, Q: You are wearing shoes, and R: You will receive service. Translate what this sign is saying into the language of propositional logic. (Hint: You have to think about what someone putting up that sign means to say! It definitely has some logical connectives in it, even though none appear in the ordinary English statement.)

b) Imagine the following situation. The UCSB basketball team makes it to the final of the Big West Tournament. The winner of this game gets into the NCAA tournament (which is often called 'March Madness' - the big national college basketball tournament that is held in March). Before the final the coach says to the players in a big motivational speech: "Win and we're in." Use the sentence letters
