Paraphrasing needed

1. A manager is responsible for not just their own work but the overall performance accomplishments of the team or even the organization as a whole. He or she should support the work of others and helps the members of the team to achieve high performances. I value efficiency in the workplace and therefore seek to manage myself and others by finding ways to communicate effectively. As different individuals understand differently from different perspectives, it is important to allow members of the team to be able to explain in ways to understand what ideas they are trying to get across to each other

2. As what Barry Schwartz said in the TED talk (Schwartz, B 2014), science creates ideas. And idea technology in social science refers to the ways of understanding that get created are ways of understanding ourselves. It is a great stimulus on how we think, aspire to be or act. What the attitude of the manager’s is greatly affects directly on the employees work performance. The Hawthorne studies shows that feelings, attitudes and relationships between co-workers is important to management. One example is the co-founder and former CEO of Uber Travis Kalanick (Lazzaro, S 2017). He harassed his employees which led to a very negative working environment and experience for them, causing them to leave the company.

The three strategies that managers could adopt to change their perceptions of work is:

Affirmative action. This allows the organization to protect those who tend to suffer from discrimination

Valuing diversity. This allows the organization to educate people to understand and respect differences

Managing diversity. This allows the organization to build an inclusive work environment that allows everyone to reach their full potential

This is important as an ethical company helps the company to create a good positive working environment for their employees.

3. Different generations have different ways of communicating. And in order to make work more satisfying, managers have to know how to communicate with different generations so as to be able to interact with them more effectively. As stated in Jackie L. Hartman and Jim McCambridge (Hartman, J & McCambridge, J 2011), the millennials are lacking in communication skills. They covet positive feedbacks and are overconfident. They dislike critics and can become aggressive about it. They also see technology as part of their life. Such behaviours can differ greatly with the managers or other employees who are not of the same generation as them. By building a common communication bridge, this encourages communication effectiveness and promotes individual and organization success.

One example is Some ways that an effective manager can do to make work satisfying is everyone use a blend of communication styles. Google (Kim Tran, S 2017) is known for their amazing working environment. The company set up loads of facilities so as to create a stress-free environment for their employees to allow them to stay creative and motivated in doing their work. One effective communication method that they have established with everyone to create a blend of communication style is tolerating with mistakes and helping staffs correct. They pay attention to how employees work and help correct critical mistakes instead of pointing out who is at fault or pushing the blames. Another company is LotusWorks (Cunningham, J.; Hilliard, R 2010), In 2007, the company began reviewing its operations and organizations as they ‘pushed their thinking about the future’. The company consist of many different capable generations of employees. And overcoming the challenge is not easy. The company ensured that the staffs were undertaking effective business development and sales activities

4. As a manager, one has to lead by example. Being ethical and respectful towards his or her employees is really important. An ethical and positive environment helps to encourage the employees to perform effectively. An effective communication between the managers and employees ensures that the team is able to share their values. When the team starts to work as one, they are able to have a common goal which promotes better work performance. Through a manager’s lead, the team would be able to have a clearer path and direction to follow.
