Question 1: - Research on training and organizational effectiveness has found that training is positively related to human resource and performance outcomes as well as financial outcomes. Explain why and how training is related to these outcomes. What are the implications of these findings for organizations?
Question 2- Discuss Kolb's and Fleming's models of learning styles and their implications for the design of training programs. What are the similarities and differences between the two models? Using each model, describe how training programs should be designed for learners with different learning styles?
Question 3 - What are the three stages of learning according to ACT theory? Give an example of how a training program might be designed according to ACT theory.
Question 4 - Organizations often have data on file that can be used for a needs analysis. Discuss the kinds of information that might exist in an organization and how it might be useful for an organizational, a task, and/or a person analysis.
Question 5 - Discuss the process involved in determining solutions to performance problems. When is training likely to be a good solution? When is training not likely to be a good solution?
Question 6 - What is a blended training program and what are the implications of blended training for trainers and trainees?
9.2 Refer to Table 9.3, "Barriers to the Transfer of Training." For each of the barriers, describe what can be done to remove the barrier and facilitate the transfer of training. Be sure to indicate at what stage in the training process you would do something to remove the barrier (before, during, and/or after), and who would be involved (manager, trainer, and/or trainee).
Question 7 - Discuss how technology can be used to facilitate the transfer of training in organizations. Be specific in describing the technology and how it can be used.
Question 8 - Why should trainers be concerned about calculating the costs and benefits of training programs? What are the advantages and disadvantages of doing so?
Question 9 What are the different costs associated with training programs? What information is required to calculate each type of cost?
