1. As an employee, do you think of yourself as a representative of the company? How important is it to you personally to double-check spelling, for example?
2. Reviewing messages is important to ensure that messages are clear. There are differences among revising, editing, and proofing. Revising is done on a larger scale, like moving bits of your paper around, reorganizing, taking sections out or strengthening them. Editing is making grammatical/mechanical changes required, sentence structure, as well as focusing on word choice and adding transitions. Proofing is looking over the final paper again for formatting issues, typos, and spelling errors.
Why should these steps be followed in this particular order? Why doesn't it make sense to correct grammar and spelling (editing and proofing) first and then do revision?
3. Business communication is all-encompassing with a wide variety of channels and that onsiderations of tone and content are crucial. Both internal and external communications are often required in the workplace; our communications can take place via email, brochure, letter, etc. Class, while much communication in the workplace occurs face-to-face, there are many occasions in which written communication is the best manner to communicate.
How does one determine which of the different communication channels you should use to convey content to your audience?
