This case focuses on the importance of managing up, down, and laterally as well as cultivating staff and line relationships in the early stages of taking on a new position. The case demonstrates how a lack of shared assumptions and expectations, especially in new working relationships, hinders effective communication.
After reading this case, respond to the following prompts:

Case 2: The Perils and Pitfalls of Leading Change: A Young Manager's Turnaround Journey
This business case analyzes and discusses the process for leading change with people in mind and increases understanding of how different tools could be applied in real-life situations. The scenario discusses the manager's role in a turnaround process and common mistakes made by inexperienced managers and weighs the risks and consequences of different management strategies.
After reading this case, respond to the following prompts:
a) Discuss why you believe the new store manager was not successful in getting better organizational performance from his team? Use appropriate references to best practices and leadership concepts to support your answer. (1-2 paragraphs).
