In this assignment:

• Places you in a hypothetical scenario in which you (as a policy analyst) have been requested to evaluate policies for courts and to consider social justice.
• Where the work as a policy analyst has been requested to address courts, policies, theories, and social justice.
• Review the discussion by Peters (2021) on procedural policy instruments and inform the presentation with findings from research.
• Attendees for the presentation include members of the state legislature, district attorneys, defense attorneys, judges, magistrates, interest groups, and members of the public.
• Focus on the functions of courts, differences between criminal justice and juvenile justice, theories in criminal justice applicable to the judiciary, theories in policymaking, legislation on sentencing, and social justice.

Must Include:

• Examine structures of local, state, and federal courts for criminal justice and juvenile justice courts, their functions, and a theory for the judiciary.
• Explain how policy implementation, policy instruments, and a policy theory relate to the policy process.
• Analyze executive, legislative, and judicial (state and federal) interests in criminal justice policymaking and two judicial approaches to interpreting the U.S. Constitution.
• Interpret the effects of a sentencing policy and a sentencing legislation on social justice and on the criminal justice system.
• Construct a change to public policy that addresses issues in drug courts for juvenile justice and for criminal justice.
