Home- vs cross-border takeovers: is there any difference in investor perception?

Research question

  • We are going to look at the share price reaction of 'acquiring' firms only (we are not looking at the share price of 'target' firms)
  • Is there is a difference in share price reaction between acquiring firms taking over a company from the same country as they're based in (home acquisition), compared to when they takeover a firm from a different country (cross-border acquisition)?
  • We are going to look at UK based acquiring firms. Half of the target firms will be UK-based, and half non-UK.
