What is memory? We all have certain things we can remember from our childhood or teenage years, and adult years. Look at all the lyrics we remember to the thousands of songs we have heard during our lifetime. But then we come across things we cannot remember no matter how hard we try. Mathematician John Griffith estimated that in an average lifetime, a person stores roughly five hundred times as much information as can be found in all the volumes of the Encyclopaedia Britannica (Hunt, 1982).

In this discussion you will: Explain the role that memory plays in your personal and professional life. Could you function on a regular basis if you did not have your memory. Now you will explain the difference between short-term and long-term memory. What role does your short-term memory play in your daily life?
