1- Difference between descriptive and inferential statistics.
2- State the null hypothesis for each study:
a. The effect of birth weight on childhood obesity
b. Testing the effectiveness of a new medication on the treatment of migraine
c. Researching if the productivity of HIM coders increases with their age
d. Studying the rate of prostate cancer in 3 ethnicities: Caucasians, African-Americans, and hispanics, to determine which ethnicity has the highest risk of developing prostate cancer
3- For each of the studies above, explain when a type 1 error occurs and when a type 2 error occurs.
4- Let's assume that in reality your null hypotheses statements for studies (a) and (c) in question 2 are correct and the alternative hypotheses statements for studies (b) and (d) are correct. Which studies (a, b, c, or d) can lead to a type 1, and which studies can lead to a type 2 error?
