Short-Answer Questions

Part 1) Suppose you are a new business systems analyst developing a detailed test plan (starting with a test matrix and then building out the corresponding test cases) for a custom-designed IT system. This IT system is being created by and for a medium sized company to manage their inventory, equipment, employees, sales, etc.

Your two tasks:

Question a. Explain the testing strategies that you will use in your plan. Explain the testing methods that you would use and what the goals of each method would be and the desired outcome.

Question b.Will you use live (real production data) or simulated data in your test environments - what are the pro's and con's of each?

Part 2) What is the difference between an operational environment and a test environment? (In terms of IT systems) What considerations do you have when you are setting up a test environment? What different processes or procedures are followed when creating a test environment compared to an operational one?

Case Scenario (attached)

You are a Business Analyst who works at a large healthcare organization, CanHealth, which has 5 main campuses/hospitals, 16,000 employees, and serves 35,000 distinct patients each year.

Problem - your task

Your task is to understand the needs and then recommend/design a system that can be used to track that each employee's access has been removed on the business day when they left.

Produce a complete one-page outline that:
1) Summarizes your understanding of the task.
2) Outlines as clearly as possible your recommended solution.
3) Summarize what techniques and tools would you would have used to elicit and document the solution had this been a project that you were assigned.
