(a) The space between two plates (20 cm x 20 cm x 1cm), 1 cm apart, is filled with a liquid of viscosity 0.1 Pa.s. The upper plate is dragged to the right with a force of 5N keeping the lower plate stationary. What will be the velocity in m/s of flow at a point 0.5 cm below the lower surface of the upper plate if linear velocity profile is assumed for the flow?

(b) Two capillaries of same length and radius in the ratio of 1:2 are connected in series and a liquid flows through this system under streamline conditions. If the pressure across the two extreme ends of combination is 1 m of water, what is the difference across the (i) first capillary (ii) second capillary?
